Solar PV System Sizing

If you’re planning to install a solar PV system, you’ll need several components, including batteries, a charge controller, an inverter, and solar PV modules. Determining the quantities and sizes of these components can be challenging, but it can be done using our solar PV sizing and costing system.

Steps to Use the Sizing Tool:

  1. List of Appliances: Compile a list of all the appliances you currently use or plan to use.
  2. Establish Power Rating and Usage Time:
    • Power Rating: Locate the data plate on each appliance to find the voltage (V), current (A), and power (W or kW). The data plate is usually on the back, bottom, or side of the appliance, or inside behind a door or cover.
    • Usage Time: Monitor your routines to determine how long each appliance is used daily.

By accurately gathering this information, you can effectively use the sizing tool to determine the optimal components for your solar PV system.

Watch the video below to learn how to check the power ratings of selected home appliances.
