Jacob Mugendi is an engineer with a passion for using technology to solve pressing challenges facing the developing world today. He is currently a Research Fellow with Engineering for Change and an entrepreneur at Aslan Afrika Limited.
He has served as a Team Leader at Truehost Cloud – a Kenyan startup seeking to provide affordable Cloud computing services in various African countries. He was involved in the transformation of the company from a little startup to become the leading cloud provider in Kenya with significant presence in Nigeria and South Africa. Prior to that, worked as Business Development Executive and Engineer with Ryanada Limited.
Mugendi also serves as a Columnist with iAfrikan Media and Techmoran, where he regularly documents various issues in the field of technology, business, and how digital technology is impacting people in the East Africa region. You can find his content Here.
Other involvements include serving in the Board of Hope and Future Rehabilitation Center; an institution that seeks to help people battling addiction and drug use problems regain control of their lives and break free from addiction. He also regularly engages in student ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Unions in Kenya.
Mugendi also actively participates in the Internet Society Kenyan Chapter as well as being an active member of IDC – JKUAT.
